I checked off four more 14ers yesterday: Mt. Democrat, 14,148’, Mt. Cameron, 14,238’, Mt. Lincoln, 14,286’, and Mt. Bross, 14,172’.

I miss TUC&K.

Horribly hungover, @ohheybrah and I hiked Mount Audubon, a 13er in Indian Peaks back in September. Despite our nausea and the intimidating notch that made us hesitate before we traversed it, it was a perfect fall day all the way to the top, and the golden autumn aspens in the valleys below were amazing as we drove back to Boulder.

Double 14ers: Back in July, @copymatt and I tackled Mt. Bierstadt together for the third time, but this time with another challenge in site: the Sawtooth, a Class 3 ridge connecting Bierstadt and another 14er, Mt. Evans.

It was fun, and while I got across the ridge problem-free, the second I stepped foot onto solid ground on Evans, I went down and heard my ankle pop. After a few minutes of resting, I had no choice to hike out on my swollen, throbbing ankle … but thankfully the pain lessened the more I hiked.

Jake and America climbed Bierstadt with us. One of the first things we saw was a lone moose splashing around in a lake glittering in the golden morning light. Then, America descended for a softball game and Jake drove Evans, hiked about a mile in to meet us, and the three of us climbed to Mt. Evans’s summit together.

Back in early July, I took my first Class 3 route up a 14er: Kelso Ridge, including the knife edge, up Torreys Peak. I went with @copymatt (as usual), climbmaster Jeb, and fresh-from-sea-level badass Paul.

A few photos from my second hike up Mt. Bierstadt with @copymatt, back in early June. It was @jefferyjake’s first 14er. It was a beautiful hike, but we postholed on the way down. A LOT.

Check out the full set here.

Don't be a pussy.

This guy sucked hard. If you’re in a bad place, go down, not up. Every member of The Up Club has known when to turn around. Let’s stay smart.

There is no one I’d rather climb with than @kmccormi. Mostly because she’s so good at it, but also because she puts up with me at times like this.
